My take on the dodo cataclysm

22 Sep

President Mbeki handed in his resignation after being recalled by the ANC NEC. Once again, as proven so many times over in the last 15 years the people of this democracy are completely ignored in important decisions that has great effect on this country of ours (theirs?). I have got no idea if the world of today actually comprehends the meaning of the word democracy, or is ignorance the made decision?

The South African Presidency has become the battlefield of the ANC big guns. An opportunity was once again presented by a court ruling, it was grabbed by the horns and retribution has once again reared its ugly head. Why else would a president be asked to leave his post only 5 months before his term is due to end? It am disgusted that a country that is still struggling to make a democracy work properly, is treated like a second-rated stepchild in an eye-for-an-eye personal feud.

For as long as there are internal feuds in the ruling party and ambitions by all to be at the top, the people of the country will always take second place in the line of the rulers’ responsibilities. No one should try to tell me that the age-old Zulu vs Xhosa saga is not playing a part in this as well.

On the other side again, it could be a clever ploy by the ANC to sooth and draw back voters by next year’s elections, which were lost due to their lack of confidence in the current rule.

Either way, or maybe a bit of all, for as long as the political rulers’ time aren’t continuously wrapped in personal agendas, power-hunger and greed there can never be hope for a democracy. A selfless modus operandi needs to be adopted by rulers, and unfortunately my friends, history has shown that power and greed ultimately corrupts, and that selfless rulers may have left this good earth, even before the last dodo.

Wat het Thabo eendag nou weer gesê: “let Africa sort out its own problems”😕
    /me loer noord…
Dit gaan daaroor dat die allesoorwegende faktor vir die ‘people’ nie die ‘people’ is nie, maar die ego van die ruler – was nog altyd so, is steeds so en sal altyd so wees…
die oumatjie in haar shack op die een of ander godsverlate vlakte gaan steeds volgende jaar ANC vote – for no other reason than ‘blêk kaltjar’ whether or not it serves her need(s) is nie ter sprake nie.
