I do not enjoy talking politics, we come across enough of it on the news and in newspapers. But sometimes you may find that a lesson could be found, to make you a better person, and citizen if taken to heart.
I think I have unravelled the enigma called ANC supportership. Little cans of thoughts are distributed secretly at meetings and people’s drinks are spiked. The negative ensuing effects: control of thoughts and thereby directly of speech. It is still beyond my comprehension, of how empty promises can create such immense control over another person.
In our every day lives, we may come across people we might want to impress. We may find ourselves in a work environment, with work ethic codes and a specific corporate culture. There are situations where the individualism is masked by a group identity. Is this not one of the reasons why it is so easy to generalise?
But then often a person comes along, and speaks his own mind. Sometimes an individual comes along and does something completely unexpected, and in contrast to the general expectation. We are reminded that saving your own skin or playing along, by acting contrary to your own beliefs and thoughts, whether in word or action….is just a way of self-deceit.
Being right or wrong, is often a personal point of view, and the true test revolves around being prepared to defend that point of view. True character further evolves from being able to admit when you are wrong, and being able to bear the consequences resulting from that spoken word or done deed.
How can you be a trustworhy individual, if you can not be true to yourself?
